These Winter photo jars are a cute Christmas keepsake for your kids. Use our printable jar template to create a cute holiday memento you can also use as an ornament, gift card or tag!
Christmas is a wonderful time of the year to do some winter crafts and preserve those cute memories with your kids! I’ve seen this photo in a jar craft floating around Pinterest but haven’t found a good tutorial or the actual source so decided to create my own tutorial for this cute winter photo jar craft.
I used our pressed flower jar template and adjusted the tutorial so you can create your own Christmas photo jars at home! Get our printable template below and follow along with the easy tutorial.
What can I do with my photo jars?
These would make adorable ornaments if you punch a hole through, or make cute gift tags, cards or bookmarks!
How do I resize my photo?
I love using Canva to quickly edit photos. Once your photos are in Canva, you can use their Background remover and then resize the photo. Note for this craft, a photo size of roughly 2″ tall to 1.5″ wide would fit inside our jar template.

Winter Photo Jars – Instructions:
1. Print out the template using Kraft paper cardstock as shown or you can use white cardstock. Note the jars will be white if you do. You can also use any other color cardstock paper to make colorful jars!
2. Cut out the center part of the jars.
3. Flip your jar and add a piece of contact paper sticky side down so when you flip the jars you can add the photo to the sticky part.
4. The photo size should be around 2″ tall by 1.5″ wide.
5. Cut out a small tree out of green cardstock and a small brown trunk from the Kraft paper.
6. Add tiny foam balls as “snow” you can also substitute mini craft snowflakes.
7. Cut another piece of contact paper the size of the center of the jar and cover
your photo, snow and tree so they stay intact.
8. Tie a ribbon around the jars. You can hole punch these to make tree ornaments. Or they would make adorable tags or cards.
