This paper tube tiger craft is an adorable project to make with kids to celebrate Chinese New Year or the Lunar New Year this year since it’s the year of the tiger!
It’s 2022 and if you celebrate the Lunar Year or Chinese New Year, you’ll likely know that this is the year of the Tiger! Making tiger crafts like this paper tube tiger craft is a fun way for kids to celebrate Chinese New Year and talk about the zodiac signs, culture and traditions around it.
We love that it’s also a super simple recycled craft for kids that requires minimal materials!
What do you need to make this tiger toilet paper roll craft
Just reach into your recycled bin for a toilet paper roll and some paints and you’re all set!
What’s clever about this tiger craft is that the tube makes the perfect stamped head for the tiger! We also used orange paper to make it easy to just stamp away; a fun preschool tiger craft if your little ones are into some easy stamping ideas.
If you wanted to adapt this to older kids, you could stamp orange paint on white paper and have them paint the insides orange for a more involved art activity.
Paper Roll Tiger Craft – Materials:
- Empty toilet paper roll
- Black paint (we used acrylic)
- Black paint marker
- White paint marker
- Orange cardstock
- Small paintbrush
Do I need paint markers or can I use paint for the tiger details?
The paint markers allow for finer details when adding facial expressions like the eye sand nose and stripes. But of course you can feel free to use a paintbrush for the details if you don’t have paint markers.
