Turn paper rolls into cute paper tube flower stamps! Create a beautiful flower art canvas easily with kids using paper tubes, paint, and leaves!
Creating art is amazing for expressing creativity and imagination, and what could be better than creating art from recycled materials? Today, I’m sharing this super fun, eco-friendly DIY project: paper tube flower art!
This project is simple, inexpensive, and requires only a few materials you probably already have around the house like paper tubes. There’s some fun painting involved and nature as well! Check out the full step-by-step tutorial below.
Paper Tube Flowers – Materials
- Paper tubes (toilet paper tubes or paper towel tubes will do)
- Acrylic paint (your color of choice for the petals and green for the stem and leaves)
- Paper or canvas to stamp on
- Paintbrush
- Real leaves
- Scissors
Paper Roll Flowers Instructions
Step 1: Preparing the Petals
Take your paper tubes and cut slits around one end and round them out with scissors so they resemble petals.
Step 2: Paint Your Petals
You can either dip the end of your paper tube petals into your chosen paint color or paint each petal one by one with a paintbrush like we did for more control over the paint. Make sure the entire bottom of the petal is covered, but be careful not to saturate the cardboard with too much paint, as it may become soggy.
Step 3: Stamp Your Flowers
Press your painted paper tube flower onto your canvas or paper.
Step 4: Paint the Stems
Now, using a thin paintbrush and green paint, draw stems from your flowers towards the bottom of your paper or canvas. Feel free to make some stems curvy and some straight, to add variety to your garden.
Step 6: Leaf Stamping
To create a more realistic look, we’re going to use real leaves for our final stamping step. Collect a few leaves of different shapes and sizes. Paint one side of your leaf with green paint, then press it onto your paper or canvas along the painted stems. This will create a natural leaf print and add another dimension to your artwork.
Final Thoughts
Once everything is dry completely, you’ll have a beautiful paper tube flower art canvas! This simple art is not only a fun recycled project, but also adds a pop of color and cheer to your home. The best part is that every creation will be unique, just like every flower in a garden
