We’ve featured this creative dad who finishes off his kids’ drawings and this artist dad’s fantastic illustrations on lunch bags. It’s wonderful to see more of these parent/child art collaborations such as this recent one featuring artist and mom, Ruth Oosterman. Inspired by seeing one of her daughter’s scribbles using her black ink pen, Ruth found herself intrigued by their shapes and lines, which prompted her to visualize and create what is now called “The Red Boat.”
On her blog, The Mischievous Mommy, Ruth writes:
“Eve and I have spent hours on end drawing together and painting canvas after canvas. I loved being able to share my passion with her and love how excited she is to partake.”
She also encourages other parents to take part, regardless of their artistic skills, saying:
“For all those with children in their lives I encourage you to try this with them, even if you don’t think you can draw you might just surprise yourself! It is an amazing and fun process and I encourage you to message me your creations and I will try to post them on this blog to share with others.”
I agree with Ruth, that this is something all parents can try with their children, regardless of how young. I’m definitely inspired to try it myself with my own kids!
Check out all of Ruth’s work with her daughter Eve on her blog. You can also purchase finished prints on her Etsy shop.
