Foil Art Lunar New Year Dragon Craft – Materials:
- Aluminum foil
- Washable markers in red, orange, and yellow
- A spray bottle with water
- Our printable Dragon template
- Cardstock or watercolor printer paper
Tips for success:
I recommend spraying the paper INSTEAD of the foil for more vibrant prints! If you want a less deeper color you are more than welcome to spray the foil first it will turn out just as beautiful!
We also love using watercolor printer paper to print our template because the watercolor paper really absorbs the marker and water well! Resulting in a non-soggy print and beautiful art that dries well!

How to make Foil Dragon Art
- Lay out a piece of aluminum foil on a flat surface you don’t mind getting dirty, like a drop cloth.
- Color the foil with the markers, using red, orange, and yellow to create a fiery, festive background. Make sure to color the surface area of your print.
- Print out the Lunar New Year Dragon template. Use either cardstock or watercolor paper for best results.
- Spray the printable lightly with water; enough to dampen the paper but not so much that it becomes soggy.
- Carefully press the printable, wet side down, onto the colored foil. Make sure to press down evenly so all parts of the paper contact the foil.
- Gently peel back the paper to reveal the colorful dragon print.
