How to draw a dog – step-by-step instructions
Step 1: Draw the First Number 6:
Start by drawing a large number 6 in the center of your paper. This will form the dog’s head and one of its floppy ears. Make sure to leave enough space around it for the body and other details.
Step 2: Add the Second Number 6:
Next, draw a smaller number 6 below the first one, connecting the bottom of the large 6. This second 6 will form the dog’s body. The loop of this smaller 6 will serve as the dog’s hind leg.
Step 3: Turn the First 6 into a Face:
Now it’s time to bring the dog to life: Add a small circle inside the loop of the first 6 to create the dog’s eye. Draw a cute round nose at the top of the straight line of the 6. Add a curved line to make a smiling mouth.
Step 4: Add Details to the Body
Enhance the smaller 6 to complete the body: Extend the bottom of the straight line slightly to form the dog’s front legs. Draw a small curved tail at the back of the body. Add a few extra lines to separate the hind leg and show where the front paws meet the ground.
Step 5: Add Ears and Spots To make the dog even cuter:
Draw a floppy ear extending from the head, using a curved line. Add a few oval spots on the head, body, or ears to give your dog character.
Step 6: Final Touches
Your dog drawing is almost done! Go over the lines to make them bold and erase any extra marks. If you’d like, color your dog to bring it to life. Try shades of brown, tan, or even white with black spots for a classic puppy look.
Why this dog drawing is a fun activity for kids
Using the number 6 to create a dog is not only fun but also helps kids see how simple shapes and numbers can be turned into art. It’s a great exercise in creativity, spatial awareness, and fine motor skills. Encourage your kids to experiment by adding more details, such as a collar, a bow, or even a background with grass or a doghouse. Happy drawing! 🐾
