Tired of your kids always asking for snacks? I know I am. That’s why I created this Help Yourself Snacks Hack in my fridge to help combat the snack attack. The way it works is that I fill up around 12 small containers with healthy snacks that are already pre-cut or individually packaged, and then my kids can grab one without having to ask me! It’s the best hack I’ve done for myself so far because it takes out most of the work for me. Plus, the kids have to refill the containers themselves when they’re empty, so my job is basically done after I put the snacks in the fridge!
What is a Help Yourself Snack Section?
Allowing your kids to get their own snacks is a great way to encourage independence. It also allows them to have the responsibility of filling the snacks back up when they run out. This self-serve hack is truly a way to encourage your kids to help themselves, instead of relying on others to do the work for them!
How do I let my kids help themselves to snacks?
The reason I created this genius hack is that I was tired of my kids always asking for snacks, and then I’d have to go and make them myself. This hack allows me to make the snack one time, and then let the kids pick and choose which snacks they want to eat. By giving them a variety, it gives them choices of which snack they want to eat. You could definitely throw in more or less snacks than what I originally put in my fridge, but it’s totally up to you! I personally wanted to give my kids healthier options, so that they would be encouraged to eat healthier, rather than giving them a bag of potato chips.
If you’re like me, this hack will work wonders for you. As a busy mom, I can definitely relate to being stressed out with little time, and that’s why this hack has become a life-saver for me! It’s also great for keeping your fridge organized. The clear containers are the perfect size for snacks, and it makes searching for things so much easier! Even if you don’t have kids, and you just want to be organized, this organization hack is a must! You can even use the containers for dividing up healthy snacks for yourself, so that you get the correct portion amount, or if you want an easy grab-and-go snack!
This hack also allows you to forget about what you’re going to eat because everything you need is right at your fingertips! No more thinking about healthy snacks to make because you already prepped them!
More organization tips and tricks:
I find a lot of amazing tips from Good Housekeeping. They always know how to utilize a space for maximum storage! Here are a few tips that I swear by:
- Using shelves instead of storage containers: I love this tip because it allows you to utilize the vertical space in your home, rather than filling it up with cluttered boxes. Don’t get me wrong, boxes are a great idea for organizing things, but too many can make the space look cramped.
- Drawer Organizers are a must: If your drawers are crammed full of stuff, drawer organizers are a must! They allow you to categorize the items in your drawer for maximum storage and organization.
- Using clear containers: Just like the hack mentioned above, clear containers are a must-have for organization! Instead of using opaque bins where you can’t see inside, use clear containers like these, so you don’t have to pull out each container to see what’s in it. This will save you a ton of time and frustration when you’re looking for something.
- Use plastic shower pockets for road trips: I mentioned this in another article where I talked about a TikTok hack for kids when you go on road trips! The TikTok creator was a mom who used a clear hanging shoe-rack for the back of her seat, and filled it with boredom-busting goodies for the car ride! I love this tip because it’s just like putting prepped snacks in the fridge, it takes the work out of the equation. Your kids won’t be telling you they’re bored on a road trip if they have all of their favorite activities right in front of them. It’ll keep them so occupied, you’ll forget they’re even in the back seat!
These life-saving tips and tricks will seriously save you time and energy, especially if you have kids. It requires a little prep work and certain materials beforehand, but the results are astronomical! You don’t even need kids for these hacks, because they’re versatile for every kind of lifestyle. Once you start learning how to organize your life, you will become less stressed with a lot more time to do the things you want to do!
