To photographer and mom, Ann Reams, a “comfort object” means so much more than a cuddly stuffed animal or soft blanket. The emotional connection between a child’s favorite comfort object is something Reams portrays in her series of touching and profound photographs of children and their favorite item. As Reams writes on her website, the objects are a “means for the children to reveal elements of their emotional lives…and a vehicle for pondering childhood and reflecting on my feelings about parenthood.”
Since starting the project in 2012, Reams has captured over 70 children with their comfort object.
