FREE PRINTABLE FRUIT TRACKER COLORING PAGE FOR KIDS AND EASY APPLE SNACK RECIPE

Thank you to Horizon for sponsoring this post.

It’s the start of a new year and eating healthy is always top of mind for our family around now. It’s a good time of the year to take stock of your meal and snack patterns, and think of ways to improve your nutrition, not only for yourself but for the kids.

To get the kids excited about eating more fruits this year, here’s a fun fruit coloring page that doubles as a fruit “tracker” for the week. With popular fruits on the page like berries, apples, pears, grapes and more, kids can color in each fruit they’ve eaten for the day. At the end of several weeks, they can look back on their fruit trackers and see if they’ve become more colorful – a great indicator they’ve increased their fruit intake!

With two kids at school, packing school lunches can become hectic, so I rely on Horizon’s easy Super Squeeze fruit pouches to pack along with other fruits as an additional boost. My kids love the yummy Strawberry Bash flavor made with organic milk and real fruit that is convenient to pack.

We also like Horizon’s Apple Fruit Crunchers made with organic dried apples and nothing else.

To get double the boost of fruit, here is a simple and filling snack my kids love that is delicious as an after school treat.

To make these apple “donuts” all you need are fresh apples, peanut butter and Horizon Apple Fruit Crunchers. A small circle cookie cutter helps too although you could use a knife as well.

Slice apples width-wise, about 3/8″ in width, core the center with a knife or circle cutter to resemble “donuts.”

Spread with peanut butter and top with Apple Crunchers.

My kids love the double crunch from the dried and fresh apples. The peanut butter makes this a filling snack to hold them over until dinnertime. The great part is they’re getting double the fruit in one snack!

Make sure to record your apple intake and any other fruits your child has eaten by having them color in their fruit coloring page!

What are your favorite ways to increase your kids’ daily fruit intake?
