This Fine Motor Pine Cone Turkey Craft is a great Thanksgiving activity for kids to practice their threading skills.
Give your preschoolers and young kids a fun Thanksgiving activity to keep them busy on turkey day with this cute Fine Motor Pine Cone Turkey Craft!
All you need to do is set out some pine cones, felt, googly eyes, pipe cleaners and beads!
If your kids need help with gluing you can certainly sit down with them and help.
But if you’re wanting them to just sit and practice threading, you could also create a few pine cone turkeys ahead of time un-threaded and have them start adding the beads right away!
What type of beads can I use for this Fine Motor Turkey?
We showed this off using small plastic beads (also known as pony beads), but as long as the bead’s hole fits through the pipe cleaner your turkey can have an array of colorful feathers!
Choose from wooden beads or maybe even buttons with large enough openings!
How many feathers can I make?
We showed off 3 but if you get a larger pine cone, you could thread several pipe cleaners. This would keep kids busy and learning for longer! Which is always a win in our book 🙂
What else can kids do other than thread the pine cone turkey?
One thing my kids liked doing with this activity is sorting colors! They LOVED sorting the bead colors we chose for our turkey which are Fall and Thanksgiving themed.
Give them a small container for the beads and get them sorting for some fun color recognition and learning.
