Since my kids are still relatively young (under 5 years old) I find myself working on art projects alongside them quite often, and they also help each other out. My oldest daughter loves to help her younger brother draw things that he can’t draw, and they often have cooperative pieces. They make great art and I’m happy to contribute to the cause as well, as do many parents. Now truth be told, I’m not a very good artist, so my drawings are passable at best.
What would happen if a professional illustrator collaborated on art projects with their child? We don’t need to imagine very far. In this case Mica Angela Hendricks, a professional illustrator and graphic artist, was sketching when her then 4-year old daughter asked to draw with her. The result are art pieces that began with mom and were finished by daughter. As you can imagine, they are whimsical, fantastic, and just plain fun. Take a look at Mica’s blog where she shows the various finished pieces. Maybe this will inspire you to have your little ones finish your art. The process and results, I’m sure, will be memorable no matter your level of artistry.
