This is a great summer art project you can do outside with kids. Lay out a bunch of canvases and some drop cloths and have the kids paint with bubbles! Wouldn’t it be a fun collaborative project?
What type of paint can I use for bubble art?
The best paints to use are LIQUID watercolor paints. Acrylic paints or tempera will be too heavy and weigh down the bubble solution and you will not be able to make bubbles!

Drop cloths to protect your surface
How to make bubble art using bubble guns
- Remove half of the bubble solution per bottle and add one color of liquid watercolor. Shake to mix well. Repeat for all the colors you plan to use.
- Place your blank canvas on a drop cloth.
- Pour your bubble solution onto a shallow dish or container.
- Dip your water gun into the colored solution and blow bubbles onto the canvas.
- Layer different colors on top!
