I have been looking for the perfect reading nook for my children and recently found these beautiful, rustic yet modern looking teepees from House Inhabit. Created by husband and wife team Mike and Jessica Kraus, these impressive teepees are handcrafted with carved Douglas Fir wood, unbleached cotton canvas, and lace detailing.
There are two main styles to choose from, a classic with draped opening and 5 poles or the ‘Big O’ with a circular opening that fits squarely on the bottom with 4 poles. Three sizes are offered; 5 or 6 feet tall, or a miniature version for your little pooch that stands around 3 feet.
I have the 5 feet ‘Big O’ and it’s become the center attraction of the kids’ playroom, filled with books, blankets, and their favorite stuffed animals. Even our Yorkie has made the tent his favorite comfy home.

I know they are a lot of play tents on the market, but these beautiful ones by House Inhabit are one of the highest quality ones I’ve personally experienced. The craftsmanship from the wood poles to heavy cotton fabric is impeccable. I also like how easy they are to set up – they pop open in one piece and fold down quick to store away when not in use.
Visit House Inhabit to view their full collection of teepees. Note that orders placed before Dec 17th will arrive in time for Christmas.
(Update: I was able to snap a photo of my daughter reading in it in our playroom). It’s the perfect spot to cozy up to a book!
