My kids are fascinated with snow globes and find the little magical scenes encased in glass mesmerizing. We thought it’d be fun to make our own by recycling plastic cups! We created a winter wonderland scene with colorful shredded paper for snow (who wouldn’t want to walk through pink and rainbow snow?) along with fabric wrapped peg dolls and some favorite paper holiday friends like Santa and Ruldoph. You can punch two holes through the cup and thread string or yarn to easily turn them into ornaments!
Find out how easy it is to make your own plastic cup snow globe ornaments.
Plastic Cup Peg Doll Snow Globe Ornaments – Materials:
– Plastic cups
– Small white paper plates
– Shredded colorful paper
– Wooden mini peg dolls
– Scraps of fabric
– Scissors
– Ribbon, yarn or string
– Glue stick and hot glue gun
– Paper winter cut-outs (we used these pre-made holiday ones, but you can easily make your own little trees or winter characters from paper)
Instructions:
Step 1. Use your cup to trace out circle templates from your paper plates. Wrap your peg dolls in scraps of fabric and glue on using your glue stick.
Step 2. Add hot glue to your paper plate circle and add some shredded paper on top.
Step 3. Glue down your peg dolls and winter paper cut-outs on top of the shredded paper.
Step 4. Punch two holes on top of your cups and thread ribbon, yarn or string and tie off. We used sharp scissors to punch through the plastic.
Step 5. Last step is to add hot glue to the rim of your plastic cup and invert onto the paper plate circles. Press down gently. Trim any shredded paper that may be sticking out. You’re done!
