Move over Mr. Potato Head, there’s a new friend in town.
Not only do we love recycled crafts, we also love recycling our own past DIY projects! This adorable Mr. Pasta head is the re-invention and combination of two previous crafts: our painted pasta sculptures and quirky tinker toy creatures.
We took our pretty painted pasta shapes and wooden creature to give him a colorful hair-do or hair “sculpture” using a glue gun – a fun way for kids to try their hands at using a glue gun for the first time!
Mr. Pasta Head – Materials:
– Painted pasta (see our how-to here)
– wooden balsa blocks, googly eyes, felt, mini pom poms (see how to make the creatures here)
– Glue gun (this low-temp glue gun is great for kids)
Step 1. Once you’ve painted your pasta and have your wooden creatures decorated (don’t forget the pasta arms!) it’s time to build.
Step 2. Glue gun individual pasta shapes on top of the wooden blocks. Not only is it fun for kids to build “sculptures,” they’ll also enjoy using a glue gun if this is their first few times.
Isn’t he the cutest pasta head you’ve ever seen? Make a bunch and see how high you can build his pasta hair!
